Mayor joins sporty celebration for club's changing room makeover

CRICKETERS joined the Mayor of Dudley for a sporty celebration to mark the completion of a major changing rooms makeover.

Stourbridge Cricket Club has finished improvements worth £42,000 to the changing room and showers at their Amblecote ground.

Mayor cllr Melvyn Mottram cut the ribbon at the new facilities on Saturday March 9 at the end of a five-year development plan which has seen the club's Memorial Ground benefit from improvements including the building of a community practice facility, restoration of the clubhouse roof to its original 1920s condition, a new electrical system and the installation of renewable energy technologies.

The changing room project was funded by donations from the Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund (£32,810), the Cory Environmental Trust in Britain (£8,000), Stourbridge Area Committee (£2,000) and The Anthony and Gwendoline Wylde Memorial Charity (£500).
