Elderly man dies in road crash near Kingswinford

AN elderly man was killed this morning (Tuesday) after a two car crash near Kingswinford.

The smash happened at around 8.50am in Hinksford Lane near Swindon, which is between Wombourne and Kingswinford.

A 74-year-old man, who had been driving a grey Fiat Stylo towards Swindon, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident – near to Hinksford Garden Centre.

A 44-year-old woman, who had been driving a grey MG ZR car in the opposite direction, was checked over by paramedics but did not need hospital treatment.

Hinksford Lane was closed until 11.45am while officers carried out examinations at the scene and the road was cleared.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to get in touch.

Sergeant Ian Revans, from Staffordshire Police, said: "We are very keen to speak to witnesses and, in particular, people who saw the Stylo prior to the collision.”
