Community choir to perform at new Glasshouse auditorium this weekend
4:37pm Thursday 21st March 2013 in News
COMMUNITY choir In Sound Company will be performing their Spring concert Walking on Sunshine at Amblecote’s Glasshouse Arts Centre this weekend.
The concert, which will include feel good numbers I Can See Clearly Now, Something Inside So Strong, Like a Trumpet Resounding, and How Can I Keep from Singing, will be the first to take place in the centre’s new Furnace Auditorium on Saturday March 23.
The choir has been singing together for several years as Dudley Performing Arts Singers, and set up as an independent community choir in 2012, making their debut under the new name at the Birmingham celebrations for the Olympic torch relay.
The 40-strong choir, which has gone from strength to strength over the last few months, performs a mix of pop, classical, folk, world music and West End numbers.
They will be supported on Saturday by the Developmental Jazz Ensemble - a community band set up by jazz trumpeter, Will Jenkins, to educate and develop the talents of young Stourbridge musicians.
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £5 and are available from the Glasshouse Arts Centre box office on 01384 399419 or by emailing insoundcompany@gmail.com
