AN INTERNATIONALLY renowned photographer who grew up in Lye will visit Dudley Library this week.
Brian Griffin will talk about his new book The Black Kingdom - an autobiography of his life growing up in the Black Country at the library in St James’s Road on Thursday May 23.
Recognised as one of the UK’s most important photographers, Brian was born in Birmingham and grew up in Lye attending the old Halesowen Technical School.
His work has included photography commissioned by Sir Paul McCartney and involvement in major projects such as Birmingham’s bid to become a European Capital of Culture.
Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member elect for children and lifelong learning, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Brian home to the borough to close this year’s Big Book Fortnight.
“His international success is something we should be very proud of and I hope residents will take the opportunity to come and learn more about his life and work.”
Big Book Fortnight aims to introduce authors to local libraries and give residents the chance to meet them and learn about their work.
