STAFF at Sainsbury’s Amblecote branch have chosen Mary Steven’s Hospice as their charity partner for 2013 to 14.

It’s the fifth year in which the Amblecote store has run the scheme supporting good causes.

As a result, the Stourbridge based hospice will receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support from the store’s colleagues and customers.

The store gave its customers a huge say in who they wanted to support by staging an in-store and online vote.

Store manager Vernon Dix said: “We had a great response from our customers and we’re delighted to have chosen a charity which customers and colleagues alike can associate with.”

Last year, the Amblecote store raised £6,769 for Brierley Hill based INSIGHT for Carers Service which used the money to help get its building up to scratch to provide support and activities for carers and their families.

The store kicked off its fundraising by staging a Shorts and Shades day last month and other activities will follow.
