Councillors set charity match goal to raise cash for Mayor's charities
11:00am Wednesday 7th August 2013 in News
DUDLEY councillors will take part in a charity football match to raise money for the Mayor’s charities.
Elected members will take on council officers during a six-a-side tournament at Redhill School in Stourbridge on Thursday (August 15), kicking off at 6pm.
The players will compete on behalf of Team DB, Dudley Council’s sports team, which raises funds for charity throughout the year.
Funds will go to the Mayor of Dudley Alan Finch’s chosen charities, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and White House Cancer Support in Dudley.
Cllr Finch said: “The football tournament was a big success last year and the event again promises to be a fun evening of sport while helping to raise valuable funds for charity.
“We are delighted West Bromwich Albion are again supporting it and we would encourage people to come along and join in the fun.”
The event will also feature an auction of match tickets and signed memorabilia from clubs and games and activities from West Bromwich Albion’s community programme, The Albion Foundation.
It will be followed on Thursday August 29 with a Team DB charity cricket match at Stourbridge Cricket Club where councillors will once again take on council staff.
