Man impaled on fence in Wollaston

A MAN was impaled on a metal fence in Wollaston during the early hours of this morning.
The incident happened in Bridgnorth Road, just after 1.30am.
Part of the fence was cut away and the man, thought to be in his 30s, was released.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene for an injury to his thigh before being transferred to Russells Hall Hospital.
An ambulance, paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer and the Medical Emergency Response Incident Team (MERIT) attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a man impaled on a metal fence.
“Part of the fence was cut away before the man, believed to be in his thirties, was treated by ambulance staff for an injury to his thigh.
“The patient was stabilised at the scene before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
