A KINVER man has won £5k to develop a website which will help students sell unwanted items to one another.
Matt Beveridge came up with the idea of a website called Uni-Board to help students advertise items such as text books, sports equipment and household appliances.
The 22-year-old, who is studying at the University of Birmingham Business School, has won a competition run by firm JISC to create an innovative idea that uses technology to help students.
Matt says: “I appreciate there are national sites available for anything anybody wants to buy, but they are not student-specific.
“Uni-Board will give students the option to select their university and then refine their search to the item they are seeking.”
Students were invited to produce a video pitch, marketing their idea to peers for votes and a jury of professionals in the field. The challenge saw more than 36 ideas submitted and attracted 6,500 student votes.
Matt said his four-strong team will use the £5k grant to create a prototype website.
