Stourbridge hair salon with celebrity roots celebrates 21 years in business
8:00am Tuesday 20th August 2013 in News
STOURBRIDGE’S Umberto Giannini salon is celebrating 21 years in business this month.
But salon owner Ann Brightmore, from Hagley, has another cause for celebration; she has worked for the company for the same number of years.
While Giannini was styling celebrity clients including Madonna and Leonardo Di Caprio, Ms Brightmore was his right-hand woman and honed her technique and learnt how to create dazzling front covers and editorial for some of the UK’s best-selling hair magazines.
In 1999 the first Umberto Giannini franchise salon opened in Bromsgrove, which Ms Brightmore owned for over ten years before taking on the Stourbridge salon in Lower High Street in 2002 - less than a year after Umberto died of a rare auto-immune disease at the age of just 33.
She said: “I felt it was the right thing to do, I hold the brand so close to my heart and am 100 per cent committed to its continued success.”
Even after 21 years, Ms Brightmore remains passionate about her job and is eager to instill enthusiasm in her staff: She said: “Good training is key to a successful team, it is vital - both for our clients and our reputation - that everyone works to the same level of excellence.”
