DUDLEY is getting set for a ceremony to remember airborne heroes from a battle which saved the nation from invasion.
The town's council is organising a parade and service to commemorate the Battle of Britain on Sunday September 15.
The day will include a service at St Thomas and St Luke’s Church, a parade by air cadets through the town centre and the laying of wreaths at the cenotaph in Ednam Road, Dudley.
Councillor Alan Finch, Mayor of Dudley, said: “In Dudley we are extremely proud of all our past and present armed forces personnel and on this occasion we wish to pay tribute and remember those from the Royal Air Force who made huge sacrifices for us and their country in the Battle of Britain.
“I hope people come along and show their support on this special day.”
The parade will get under way at 11am in Priory Road, the church service will be at 11.30am and members of the public are invited to attend.
