Controversial Hagley homes plan gets the green light
12:20pm Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
A LAST ditch appeal to get proposals for a housing estate in Hagley thrown out failed at a meeting of Bromsgrove planners last night.
Cala Homes proposal to build 175 homes on land off Kidderminster Road was fiercely opposed by villagers, with protest including a 4,000-name petition and objections from the parish council.
But it was given the go-ahead with Bromsgrove Council’s planning committee approving it on a vote of eight to two, with two abstentions, last night.
Paul Thatcher, of Brook Crescent, spoke against plans telling the meeting the three storey buildings would “stick out like a sore thumb.”
But Edward Murray, Sidemoor councillor, said the scheme was good for Hagley as young, first time buyers would not have to leave the area.
