Prizes on offer for Great Black Country fun runners
12:00pm Sunday 15th September 2013 in News
CHARITY fun runners taking part in the Great Black Country Run in Halesowen are being offered chance to scoop prizes for their fundraising efforts.
Organisers of the run, taking place on Sunday September 22, are offering a Mercedes-Benz 4X4 driving experience, donated by sponsors Mercedes-Benz of Stourbridge, to the person who raises the most money for a charity of their choice.
The prize is one of many announced by event organisers - Halesowen & Rowley Regis Rotary Club - to encourage runners to pound the streets of Halesowen in the giant charity event, which also includes a 10K run starting at 9am in Somers Square as well as the 5K fun run which starts at 11am.
McDonald’s Halesowen has also donated a family meal voucher for up to six people, to be presented to the best dressed family/group; a year’s free membership for two at Fitness Works, Halesowen, will be awarded to the best dressed individual; and the family raising the most money for charity will win a Dudley Leisure Centre pass for two adults and two juniors.
Rotarian Alan Bowler, event organiser, said: “Our sponsors have been extremely generous and the Halesowen & Rowley Regis Rotary Club are very grateful for their support.
“We hope these incentives will not only encourage people from the Black Country area to come in to Halesowen and take part in the run and enjoy the fun atmosphere on the day but more importantly to raise lots of money for their chosen charities.”
Prizes are also being awarded to those taking part in the earlier 10k race.
The first, second and third placed male and female finishing the race will each win Asda vouchers (ranging from £50 to £20) and the first male and female veteran runners to cross the finishing line will each win a £20 M&S voucher.
Some prizes will be announced and handed out on the day but runners raising money for charity will have until the end of November to collect their sponsorship money in and those prize winners will be announced in February 2014.
Runners can still sign up to take part in both the 10K and 5K runs by logging onto www.greatblackcountryrun.com or last-minute entrants can sign up on the day.
Further information and details of all incentive prizes on offer can also be found on the event website.
