A STOURBRIDGE opticians has sky high hopes for its latest fundraising efforts.
Specsavers will hold a balloon race on Saturday (28 September) to mark the start of its year-long fundraising efforts for the neonatal unit at Russells Hall Hospital.
The inflatables will be labelled with the names of people taking part and the person whose balloon travels the furthest after it is released from the High Street branch at 9am, will win a pair of designer specs, worth £125.
Karen Phillips, fundraising coordinator for the Dudley Group NHS Charity, will release the helium balloons into the air after the Mayor of Dudley, councillor Alan Finch, opens the store.
Mrs Phillips said: “The neonatal unit staff are very grateful for the charitable effort Specsavers Stourbridge has pledged for the next 12 months. The money the store and staff raise will help make the stay of patients and families more comfortable at a very stressful time.”
Terry Tam, store director said the store “wanted to give something back” to the community who have helped make the store a success.
Anyone who wants to take part can purchase a balloon in store for 50p.
