WHISKY connoisseurs from across the country flocked to Stourbridge for the Midlands Whisky Festival at the weekend.
Long-established Stourbridge wine merchants Nickolls and Perks hosted the event at Stourbridge Town Hall, which proved a sell-out - attracting more than 300 visitors from all over the UK and overseas.
More than 200 different whiskies were available to taste at the festival, held on Saturday afternoon (September 28) which also included live music and exclusive masterclasses offering participants chance to sip eye-wateringly expensive whiskies including Dalmore Constellation samples, worth thousands of pounds.
Tim Robbins, marketing manager at Nickolls and Perks, said: “It was fantastic. "We’re very, very pleased. We’ve had people from all over the country and the furthest someone travelled from was Sweden.”
And he added: “The Dalmore Constellation tasting session was a once in a lifetime event for some people. Even people who own such bottles don’t want to open them as they cost thousands.”
The festival, which has been held in Stourbridge for the last three years, has proved such a success that Nickolls and Perks are now running it twice a year, with the next event scheduled for April 2014.
The long-established family firm, based on the Corner of Coventry Street, is also celebrating making it onto the shortlist for the title of Independent Spirits Retailer of the Year in the Off Licence News Drinks Retailing Awards.
