Generous Kinver rotarians raise £6k for charity

KINVER rotarians have raised more than £6k for charity by staging a series of events including a sponsored run in just three weeks.
The Rotary Club of Kinver held its annual 10k run and 2k family fun run in aid of Action Heart, which is expected to have pulled in almost £3,000.
The event, which attracted almost 200 runners, was started by local MP Gavin Williamson, who joined club President Nick Geoghegan to present prizes to the winners.
Club members also raised more than £1.6k from their annual harvest auction, which saw items including a holiday in an apartment in Turkey sold to the highest bidder.
Cash will go to the club’s general charities fund.
The final event staged was a joint fundraiser with Hagley Rotary Club - a musical evening at Kidderminster Town Hall featuring the West Midlands Fire Service band and Stourport Choral Society.
It raised more than £1,800 which will be divided between Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster and the two clubs’ local charity funds.
Kinver Rotary Club president Nigk Geoghegan said: “To raise so much money in just three weeks is a tremendous feat, although months of planning went into the concert and the 10k run and the success of the harvest auction was due to the generosity of our club members.
“I congratulate all concerned with staging the three events which have produced such significant sums for worthwhile charities.”
