BIG-HEARTED Stourbridge Golf Club Captain Barry Corbett has raised a staggering £12,000 for charity during his two-year reign at the Worcester Lane venue.

He also obtained an authenticated House of Commons bottle of whisky signed by David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Milliband which he plans to auction at the forthcoming Remembrance Sunday.

Barry intends to present a cheque to a war veteran who lost both of his legs during the Afghan conflict at the end of November, before his captaincy at Stourbridge concludes on January 1 Stourbridge Golf Club spokesman Dave Homer said: “Barry has raised more money than any other club captain that I can remember. He has really pushed the boat out to achieve this figure.”
