BOROUGH residents have until Friday (December 6) to nominate worthy young candidates for the tenth annual Dudley Youth Awards.

The awards, which will take place in March, aim to combat negative stereotypes of people aged 11 to 19 by recognising their achievements over the last 12 months.

Awards categories are: Contribution to School and College, The Green Award, The Inspiration Award, arts and entertainment, sport and Group Community, Charity and Voluntary Award.

There is also an adults award, the Mary Growcott Award, where young people can nominate adults who do outstanding work for youngsters in their community.

Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “This is the tenth year of the Dudley youth awards and every year there are tears and laughter at the ceremony. "It is a joyous occasion which celebrates the hard work and achievements of young people from across the borough.

“I would urge people to vote for any young person or group who have had a positive impact on their lives to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.”

Nominations can be made online at www.dudley.gov.uk/kids/youth-service/youthvoice/youth-awards or by calling 01384 815172 or 07827836969.
