CHRISTMAS shoppers can park for free on borough car parks on remaining Saturdays up to Christmas.

Dudley Council is offering free parking throughout the day on December 7, 14 and 21 on all of its car parks across the borough.

Council bosses hope suspending charges will help to boost trade in Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Dudley and Halesowen and as well as smaller centres such as Kingswinford and Sedgley.

It is also hoped it will give a boost to the national Small Business Saturday on Saturday December 7, organised to celebrate local businesses and encourage people to shop in their home towns and villages.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley’s cabinet member for transport, said: “We know our traders and shoppers will welcome this decision to offer free Christmas parking. “I would encourage all our residents to make the most of this free parking and to join in with Small Business Saturday by doing their seasonal shopping within the borough.”

Free parking was also offered to coincide with the annual Christmas lights switch on events in Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Dudley and Halesowen.
