AN event organised by a charitable Wordsley woman raised £910 to buy specialist equipment for a severely disabled Stourbridge youngster.

Linda Tromans, aged 57, was touched when she heard that eight-year-old Luis Hickman had a rare condition called Chromosome 1p36 Deletion, which has left him facing a lifetime of mobility and communication problems, following an appeal his mother, Gemma, made through the News.

She was looking for fundraisers to help her purchase a specialised tablet with applications to help him communicate and a trike to aid his mobility .

After seeing this, Mrs Tromans, who organises an annual fundraiser for different local charities, dedicated this year's event, at Cradley Labour Club to Luis.

Mrs Tromans wished to thank everyone who supported the event on Saturday November 23, which included live music, a disco and raffle.

She presented the cheque to Mrs Hickman recently, who was grateful for the support.

She said: "We are currently looking at trikes. Following other recent fundraising events Luis has been able to have an iPad with a communication application and sensory lighting. "Equipment and daily living resources cost so much and we are very grateful for any help. "
