AUDNAM musician Alan Neilson will take on the X Factor winner in a bid to be crowned Christmas number one with his charity single.

He hopes to enter the charts with his festive pop song, From Winter to Winter, and has vowed to give all profits to Pancreatic Cancer if he gets 1,000 likes on the Facebook page he has set up to promote the single.

The 44-year-old, who chose the charity after losing his brother-in-law, Gavin Radford to the disease last year, said it was a "really difficult" song to compose.

Alan, who works for Sandwell Council, continued: "A few people at work have said for a few years that I should do a Christmas single but I never got round to it. I've been a musician, playing guitar mainly, for about 30 years in my spare time and I have had a couple of singles on iTunes before but this is my first Christmas song.

"It took around four weeks to right, I found it really difficult as I'd never done anything like this before. It's as festive as I could make it both lyrically and in the actual sound. It's an upbeat pop song."

Alan has urged people to support his Christmas campaign and help raise money for charity in the process.

He added: "I want to raise as much money as possible, anything is better than nothing."
