A THOUGHTFUL Stourbridge schoolgirl was so touched when she saw the poorly youngsters featured on Children in Need that she decided she wanted to do something to help.

Lauren Swadkins, aged eight, chose to say goodbye to her dreams of having long locks and had her hair cut short to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Her proud mum, Nicola Swadkins, said: " She's always wanted to have very long hair so this is a huge thing for her. We are incredibly proud of her she's a very special little girl."

The Ashwood Park Primary School pupil faced the chop on Friday at Stajen Hair in Wordsley.

She is now sporting a short bob and and has raised £245 in sponsorship.

Mrs Swadkins, of Wordsley, added: "We are so very proud of Lauren for going through with this."
