A STOURBRIDGE starlet will make her first television appearance next month on daytime soap Doctors.

Aspiring actress Georgia Phillips, aged 12, will appear in one episode of the BBC drama series after she was encouraged to audition by her drama teacher, Esther Stanford of Dramaworkshop.

The Redhill School pupil, who has been attending the drama group for 12 months, spent three days filming at the BBC Birmingham Drama Village, Selly Oak, in September.

Her mum, Emma Penko, said acting had seemed like the "obvious" path for her daughter to take, adding: "She's always been a bit of a drama queen, very confident and outgoing."

She continued: "She wasn't really phased about it until she got to the studio for the audition, then it was all real."

Georgia, who said she would love to be a film star one day, added: "I was really excited and quite proud when I found out because I didn't think I got the part. It was really good being on set because I've watched Doctors before and it was nice to meet all the characters."

In the episode that Georgia starred in, she played Immy, the daughter of soap regulars Karen and Rob Hollins.

Her mum explained: "She played the younger version of Imogen in a series of flashbacks to when Karen and Rob were younger. Filming was a great experience for her and the cast were fantastic and really looked after her.

"Even if she never gets the chance to do it again, it is something she will always remember although as soon as she finished, she asked what else she could audition for."

Mrs Penko said further auditions have been put on hold while Georgia settles in at school: "We never want acting to interfere with her education."

The episode will air on BBC 1 at January 14 at 1.45pm.
