STOURBRIDGE'S night time guardians have been given £750 to allow them to continue their good work.

The town's Tesco Extra store has donated the cash to the Stourbridge Street Pastor team as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.

Street Pastors are church members who patrol the town's streets and bars late at night, offering practical support to people in difficulty.

They also reassuring those who may feel vulnerable, help to reduce the fear of crime, and provide a listening ear and genuine, non-judgmental pastoral support to those who need it.

Team co-ordinator Alice Grennan, said: “We would like to thank Tesco for this wonderful donation towards Stourbridge Street Pastors, it will have a significant impact on our funds and our on-going ability to serve the town.”

Store manager Sadie Griffiths, who presented the cheque to the pastors recently, added: “The street pastors are a great help in our town centre and we are delighted that we are able to support them with a £750 donation, which will enable the group to continue their invaluable service to the town.

“It is important to us that we support services and organisations in Stourbridge in any way we can.”
