BOROUGH bookworms will benefit from an improved online service at Dudley libraries.

More than 2,000 e-books are available for loan from local libraries’ website, and now those who choose to download their reading material can take advantage of an upgraded system.

Some books can be previewed before they are checked out and customers can add books to a newly created wish list, before logging in.

Councillor Stuart Turner, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “People are increasingly reading books on internet-enabled devices. If this means that more people spend time reading, it’s got to be a good thing. We have a wealth of titles available online free of charge, and this will be especially useful for people in the borough who get an e-reader for Christmas.”

The council is currently developing an online web-reader, which will allow customers to read entire books on a computer or internet-enabled device without needing to download them.
