THERE is still time for parents to have their say on the future of the borough's children’s centres.

In a bid to save £2.3m, Dudley Council threatened to close a number of centres across the borough but in the wake of fierce opposition, council leader, cllr David Sparks, announced that all centres would remain open for the foreseeable future.

However opening hours and staffing levels could still be reduced as part of the on-going consultation.

The council is keen to ensure everyone has the opportunity to voice their opinions on how they think the services should be delivered and managed in the future so has extended the deadline to next Friday (January 10).

Cllr Sparks said: “We take pride in listening to what the people we represent have to say. We have listened to their views and it was clear that keeping all centres open for the foreseeable future was the right decision.

"We also made it clear that the consultation remained open as we continue to look at proposals to make the savings required given the continued reduction in government funding."

Hard copies of the consultation are available from all children's centres.
