Police officers injured during Christmas Day scuffles

POLICE are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those involved in scuffles in Stourbridge town centre on Christmas Day.

More than 40 officers, including dog handlers, were in attendance at the height of the disturbance on Wednesday, which ended at around 1am when the crowds dispersed.

Sergeant Steve Carrier said there the High Street was closed off at 1.30am after "several sporadic outbreaks of disorder".

He added: “Three officers suffered minor injuries during the scuffles and a 19-year-old man was arrested.

"He later received a caution for assaulting a police officer.

“CCTV footage is now being reviewed as part of an investigation to identify those involved in the trouble.”

Anyone who saw anything or who has any information which may assist police should call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
