POLICE are searching for a man who assaulted two officers in Kinver this evening (Saturday).

Officers were called to a report of an aggressive man in Redwood Drive, at around 5.45pm.

They were confronted by the man who was making threats of violence, so requested more patrols attended.

Further officers joined them but while trying to detain him, two officers were assaulted and the man ran off.

Members of the public are urged not to approach the male - who is described as white, aged 44, 6ft 4ins with a very heavy build and bald - but to call 999 immediately.

He is wearing a grey t-shirt and grey baggy tracksuit bottoms.

The injured male officers were taken to Russell Hall Hospital for treatment.

Chief Insp Jon Staite, of Staffordshire Police, said: “Due to the escalation of the man’s behaviour a number of further officers attended and were assisted by colleagues from the West Midlands Police.

“We would advise the public not to approach him - if you see someone matching this description please call us immediately on 999 and quote incident 644.

“Incidents of this nature are very rare in Kinver and we can reassure residents our priority is the safety of the local community and the wider public.

“We would like to thank residents for their patience while we deal with this incident and anyone that has concerns is encouraged to speak to officers at the scene or call us on 101.”
