Event at Stourbridge college campus to steer students in the right direction

STOURBRIDGE students who want to find out more about working in the motor industry are invited to a careers event tomorrow (Wednesday).

The event, at Birmingham Metropolitan College's Stourbridge campus, Hagley Road, will give school leavers the opportunity to steer their careers in the right direction.

Visitors can browse motor vehicle workshops and speak to staff and lecturers about courses on offer – including new apprenticeships, which will be available from March.

Lennox Ricketts, programme area manager for motor vehicle at the Stourbridge campus, said: “There are 32 million vehicles on the UK’s roads, and all of them need to be serviced, repaired, bought and sold.

"There are also 757,500 employees in the UK involved in designing, engineering, manufacturing and repairing motors as well as making components for them.

"Anyone interested in finding out about the variety of careers on offer should come along and speak to us about the courses and apprenticeships on offer.”

The event will take place between 6.30pm and 8pm.
