A FITNESS instructor has turned a vacant building in the heart of Kingswinford into a community hub to boost local businesses and create jobs.

Suzanne Richardson, aged 42, of Cot Lane, Kingswinford, opened The Health Factory on Market Street, earlier this month.

Well known throughout the borough for her Zumba with Suzanne sessions, Mrs Richardson has completely refurbished the building, which was previously occupied by Misfits Health Club.

She opened The Health Factory as she "wanted to create a community hub" to "get local businesses involved and create jobs".

Mrs Richardson continued: "The building was vacant for two years and was in such a bad state. A lick of paint and new floor became a complete rewire, plumbing re-done and total gut of the place.

"We now have two studios including one for kids, a specialist tea rooms that will open fully shortly that will offer cater for celiacs and the lactose intolerant.

"Local groups will also be here for karate, Thai boxing, wrestling and we will have a beauticians, a family foot health specialist and we are hoping to host workshops and create jobs."

Dudley South MP Chris Kelly, has welcomed the venture, he said: “I was really pleased to see how extensively the building has been refurbished, with the fully sprung dance and aerobic studio floor being a highlight. The refurb is a major investment and I wish Suzanne every success with her new venture.

“Keeping fit and being active is absolutely critical to health outcomes so I hope Suzanne will have a big take-up from the local community for her fab, fun fitness classes."
