A STOURBRIDGE schoolboy making his stage debut is gearing up to take on the title role in a Black Country production of Oliver.

George Westley-Smith, aged eight, is getting set to take to the stage in Phoenix Theatre Production's version of the popular musical about a band of young London pickpockets.

The Greenfield Primary School pupil has been rehearsing since September for the show which will run at The Mill Theatre, Dormston School, Sedgley, from Tuesday February 4 to Saturday February 8.

The budding young actor, who will play Oliver in the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening shows, is following in the footsteps of his talented sister Isabelle who has wowed audiences in big Black Country productions of The Sound of Music and Annie.

Proud mum Judith Westley-Smith said: "We are delighted for George and wish him every success."
