YOUNGSTERS across Dudley borough are being encouraged to get a wiggle on and help raise funds for a leading children’s charity.

Action for Children is teaming up with The World of Eric Carle and encouraging local children’s centres, nurseries and groups for under-5s to host a Giant Wiggle event on March 20 for The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day.

The day, celebrated annually, marks the start of the 45th anniversary celebration of the UK’s most read children’s book, and 2014 marks Action for Children’s 145th year.

Children will be sponsored to wiggle along in giant caterpillar conga lines and throughout the day will be encouraged to help others and open up their imaginations through storytelling and creative activities.

Amanda Quinn, fundraiser at the charity, said: “What better way to celebrate the anniversary of Eric Carle’s beloved book than by getting kids active and having fun. “By hosting a sponsored Giant Wiggle, you will be helping us continue to support vulnerable children, young people and families in the heart of communities in Dudley borough, and across the UK."
