DUDLEY’S mayor’s charity fund got an £800 top up from sales of a Black Country beer which struck gold with drinkers.
The Golden Chains brew was created 40 nine gallon barrels of the ale at the Old Swan in Netherton which went on sale last Autumn at the Halesowen Road pub.
Brewers at the pub, known throughout the region as Ma Pardoe’s are now planning a second batch of the golden beer.
Tim Newey, landlord at The Old Swan, said: “We are only too pleased to support local charities and our regulars certainly enjoyed the Golden Chains ale. We will be brewing up some more which will be available in the coming weeks and months which will again be sold for the mayor’s charity.”
Councillor Alan Finch, Mayor of Dudley, said: “I’m extremely grateful to Tim and the head brewer Paul and all the customers at Ma Pardoes for supporting the charities. I hope people enjoyed Golden Chains and will continue to support the charities by buying the ale when it is back on over the next few months.”
The mayor’s charities this year, which are benefitting from the sale of the ale, are White House Cancer Support in Dudley and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
