BLACK Country rockers Weak13 are a step closer to their dream of global stardom after being shortlisted for an international music award.
The Stourbridge based three-piece, fronted by Nick J Townsend, have been nominated for best hard rock song in the 13th Independent Music Awards - with their self-released track You Don't Love Me.
Up against acts from across the globe - Weak13, featuring Neel Parmar on drums and Wesley Smith on bass, hope to impress a panel of prestigious industry experts to win their category of the competition which offers artists chance to boost their profile on an international scale.
The winners will receive a year's worth of marketing and sales support in addition to performance and licensing opportunities.
Nick said: "We're one of just a few bands representing the UK and we're competing against acts from every other country on the planet. The fact that we're even in the competition is great.
"But it's the 13th annual Independent Music Awards and we're Weak13 so we think we should win!"
Dynamic frontman Nick said the angst-filled You Don't Love Me track which has been nominated was written in Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Park after a relationship break-up - and it even references nearby Love Lane in the lyrics.
It's not the first time the band, who have been together for getting on for 15 years, have been recognised.
They previously won a best music video award at the 2010 London Limelight Film and Arts Awards for the video to their song Wake Down, directed by film-maker Chris Stone.
