A BLACK Country charity has refused to throw in the towel when it comes to helping a grieving Kingswinford family.

Love2Give has organised a knockout fundraiser at the Copthorne Hotel, Brierley Hill, tomorrow (Thursday), featuring a talk from a boxing legend.

The charity helps families across the West Midlands by raising funds for various projects to make their lives easier.

But instead of passing the money on to another organisation to carry out the work, the volunteers take time off from their full-time jobs to see the project through themselves.

Pete Jackson, co-founder of the charity, said funds raised from this event will pay for a summer house to be built in Claire and Brett Groom's back garden, where they can place their daughter, Isla's ashes and sit with her on special occasions.

Isla died from a rare genetic condition called Edwards Syndrome in December 2012, aged one.

Mr Jackson, a security officer and boxing promoter, said although the couple hadn't asked for help, as they have supported numerous charitable causes over the years, he thought it was time to give something back.

He has roped in his friend Big Joe Egan, to be the evening's guest speaker and he will tell guests what it was like living and sparring with Mike Tyson and how he has gone on from boxing to create a successful acting career.

The event will also have two guests of honor - former Aston Villa European cup winner Gary Shaw and former Wolves striker Mel Eaves.

Guests will also be entertained by compare, Charlie Hale.

Tickets, which cost £15, are available on the door and include a champagne reception.
