BLUES guitarist Marshall Gill will be bringing his band Blackballed to Stourbridge later this month.

Best known as guitarist with cult band New Model Army since 2005 – Marshall, from Ashton-Under-Lyme, is guitarist and vocalist in the band who will play at Moochers in New Road on Friday February 21.

With Marshall’s brother Leon on drums and backing vocals and Tom Wibberly on bass, the trio - who got together in 2012 - fuse elements of blues and rock to create a sound they describe as “groove rock”.

Sarah Evans, director at Moochers, said “We have been trying to find a date for Blackballed for some time, but with Marshall’s touring commitments it has proved challenging. After hearing Blackballed’s work and as a big New Model Army fan myself, I made it a priority to get them on stage at Moochers.

“We were looking for a headline slot on one of our original band nights but couldn’t find a mutually convenient date. Fortunately Blackballed were happy to play Moochers as a support act and they will now perform as main support on February 21.”

Blackballed are the latest high profile act set to take to the stage at Moochers which also has artists including Deborah Bonham, Liverpool’s The Universal and King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boy lined up to perform on future dates.

Up and coming Black Country rockers Chrome Angel, fronted by Kim Roberts, will be the opening act on the 21st which will see tribute outfit Guns or Roses headlining.
