A WOLLASTON school is appealing for unwanted clothing donations after 57 bags collected from parents, students and staff, were stolen.
The bags, containing clothing, handbags and shoes, were taken from Ridgewood High School's car park last Wednesday - minutes before they were due to be picked up by bona fide collectors from the Bag2School scheme.
Members of the school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) had organised the collection and would have received 50p for every kilo of clothing donated.
Headteacher, Clive Nutting, said: "The PTA work hard for the school, providing support in a number of ways in an attempt to benefit our students and staff. "It is particularly disappointing therefore that something like this should happen."
Bob Billingham, a PTA member, estimated the donations would have been worth around £250 to the school.
He has urged the community to raid their wardrobes and donate any unwanted goods to help make up for the loss.
Bags can be dropped off at the school on Park Road West or Mr Billingham can be contacted on 07810718373 to arrange a collection.
