A DUDLEY councillor is going up in the world and taking an unusual passenger along for the ride.

Mayor’s consort cllr Adam Aston is aiming to climb Britain’s tallest mountain, Ben Nevis, with Annie the resuscitation doll strapped to his back.

Cllr Aston, who represents the Upper Gornal and Woodsetton ward, is a paramedic with West Midlands Ambulance Service and a volunteer medic for St John Ambulance.

He aims to scale the 1,344m mountain with Annie and carry out CPR resuscitation on the training doll when he gets to the summit to raise cash for St John’s.

Cllr Aston said: “We’re all really excited about the challenge and raising money for a very worthy cause. Learning life saving skills is very important and we’re hoping to show that as part of the challenge too.

“If you can perform CPR at the top of Ben Nevis you can do it anywhere.”

Cllr Aston will be joining a group climbing the mountain on Saturday May 3 when he will trek for around six hours to cover the 10.5miles to the top of the peak.
