AMBLECOTE businessman Geoff Hill has donated £1,000 to help support the efforts of a group of fundraisers who have headed off on a mountainous challenge.

The money will help to boost the fundraising total of a ten-strong group of charity climbers who have flown out to Nepal for a Himalayan trek in aid of Stourton charity Living Springs which supports teen mums and vulnerable families.

Jane Chapman, the charity's founder and centre director, is among those taking part in the ten-day challenge.

Amy Stuart-Cook, Pete and Jackie Cash, Beth Shepheard-Walwyn, Katie Brockway, Andrew Gray, Rick Taylor, Charlotte Nicholls and Lee Smart from Geoff Hill Electrical Superstore also jetted off on March 10 for the adventure of a lifetime.

Before flying to Kathmandu, members of the team staged practise hikes on the Clent Hills and Mount Snowdon in Wales in preparation for the challenge which has been organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Living Springs.

Jane's husband Robert Chapman, chairman of the trustees at Living Springs, said: "This trip of a lifetime is a great way to celebrate our past and to look to the future as we aim to help many more families in the next 25 years."

Barclays Bank has also match-funded Mr Hill's £1,000 donation to the team, who so far have raised a total of around £12,000.

Anyone wishing to support the cause can make a donation online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/ (type in Living Springs) or to find out more about the charity visit www.livingsprings.co.uk
