FANS of Elvis Presley will be getting all shook up this weekend in Stourbridge when the King of rock 'n' roll's legendary bass player takes to the stage at a town music venue.

Jerry Scheff ,who played bass guitar with Elvis Presley from 1969 to 1977, will be performing at The River Rooms with covers band Mondo Carne this Saturday (March 15).

As a member of Elvis's TBC band Jerry performed more than one thousand concerts with Presley and featured in three of the American icon's concert movies - That's The Way It Is, On Tour and Aloha From Hawaii.

He has also shared a stage with Roy Orbison, The Doors and Bob Dylan during a glittering career which started in the 1960s and which continues to this day.

Jensen Bloomer, Paul Burchell, John Hodgetts, Tim Welding and Paul Rollason, of Black Country band MondoCarne, got to know the international bassist back in the 1990s and they have over the years formed friendships with all of Presley's former backing musicians.

Lead singer Jensen Bloomer said: "We first gigged with Jerry in Norway in 1996 and became instant friends - he is a great guy, tells a good story and makes the bass sing. Elvis had the best musicians around him - Jerry is the real deal."

Jerry will be performing rock 'n' roll hits by Elvis and others at the River Rooms gig which will be the bass legend's only UK outing this year.

Tickets are £10 on the door.
