FIREFIGHTERS are calling for raffle and auction donations to support medics who saved a premature Pensnett baby.

Daisy-Mae Little has overcome all the odds to survive after being born three-and-a-half months early.

Her dad, firefighter Wayne Little, is leading a campaign to raise £10,000 for neonatal unit at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital as a thank you for saving his daughter.

Staff at West Midlands Fire Service are asking for businesses or organisations to donate prizes for a raffle and silent auction to be held on Saturday March 22 at their headquarters.

Prizes already donated include first-class tickets for Eurostar and a round of golf for four players.

Daisy-Mae’s story touched the hearts of thousands of people on Facebook who liked a page set up by Wayne to keep friends and family up-to-date with news of the little one who weighed just 1lb 13oz when Stourbridge property lawyer Jennifer, aged 34, gave birth to her at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, on December 1 2013.

A fundraising fun day, featuring an assault course, live music, face painters and bouncy castles, will also take place at Mary Stevens Park, Norton, Stourbridge, this Saturday (March 22), in honour of Daisy-Mae.

Anyone able to donate a prize for the fire service raffle can contact watch commander Jayne Reynolds by emailing jayne.reynolds@wmfs.net and to read more about Daisy-Mae check out www.facebook.com/little.daisy.mae
