REBECCA Firm had a sudden rush of blood to the head when she decided to perform a charity skydive.

The 23-year-old clerical officer from Stallings Lane in Kingswinford has never flown in a plane before - but is determined to take the plunge later this year.

Rebecca will be performing her skydive at Nottingham in August and is planning to raise funds for the lung function unit at Russell's Hall Hospital, Dudley, at the same time.

Her father Barrie suffers from lung problems known as COPD and has to transport a portable oxygen cylinder around with him.

Rebecca said: "Although my dad was treated at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, they have an identical unit at Russell's Hall and I believe people with lung problems don't get enough awareness compared to other charities. People working at the unit were really surprised and delighted when I told them I'd chosen them as my charity.

"I've never flown in a plane before, because the opportunity has never arisen, but for some reason skydiving has always appealed to me and is something I would love to do."
