STUDENTS at a Stourbridge performing arts school received a masterclass from a West End star recently.

Ashley Andrews, whose credits include Chicago, Wicked and Billy Elliot, led a workshop at Stagecoach Stourbridge, using the techniques of famous choreographer Bob Fosse.

He looked at numbers from various American musicals, told students about his experiences in the West End and held a question and answer session.

Principal, Catherine Needle, said: "Coming from a West End background myself, I am determined to give the students these unique opportunities and plan on bringing in professional performers for regular workshops as I believe this encourages and inspires the students to achieve their own ambitions."

New students are being recruited for two new afternoon schools, being launched at the Wordsley School base on April 26.

Potential stars aged between six and 16 can join weekly sessions held between 2.30pm and 5.30pm and those aged between 15 and 18 who already have experience on the stage can attend the classes between 2pm and 4.30pm.
