A SECURITY barrier is set to be installed at Kinver Sports and Community Association car park in a bid to rid the area of anti-social behaviour.

Money has been supplied through Staffordshire Police's Proceeds of Crime Fund and KSCA chairman Rachel Davis confirmed: "We are just waiting for a sign to be completed before the barrier can become operational.

"We've never had to lock the car park off before and it's a real shame it has come to this."

She added: "We have people gathering there in the early hours of the morning and it has made some people living locally become quite fearful.

"There has been reports of drinking and people doing 'wheelies' in their cars

"We've been led to believe that most of the people causing anti-social behaviour come from outside the area.

"It's been a long running saga and has taken between 18 months to two years for us to achieve this.

"The route still remains a right of way, so we're not blocking the road off completely. People can still walk through to the canal and skatepark. We're just preventing motor vehicles from getting through.

"Hopefully this will now bring some relief to local residents."

Staffordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis presented the KSCA with a cheque for £4,144 earlier this year after deciding 100 per cent of funding received by the force from Proceeds of Crime seizures should be ploughed back into communities.
