A SEDGLEY pub’s glass is definitely half-full after being voted joint best by Black Country beer buffs.
The Beacon Hotel, Bilston Street, has been declared Pub of the Year 2014 by Dudley and South Staffs CAMRA in an unprecedented dead heat with the Cat Inn at Enville.
Dudley and South Staffs CAMRA spokesman, Stan Stephens, said: “All the judging criteria of superior beer quality and the highest standards of atmosphere, welcome, service and good value are taken into account and on this occasion these two pubs could not be prised apart.
“The Beacon Hotel has of course previously won the award on several consecutive occasions, relinquishing it for the first time last year to the Red Cow, Lower Gornal. A dogged determination to return to the summit once again has been achieved.”
