A MOUNTAINOUS challenge has raised more than £14,000 for a Stourton charity that supports teenage mums and vulnerable families.

Living Springs supporters recently completed a 10-day Himalayan fundraising trek to mark the charity's 25th anniversary.

The team of 10, who spent months preparing for the task by doing practice hikes at Clent Hills and Mount Snowdon, have described the charity climb as "a humbling experience".

Jane Chapman, the charity's founder and centre director, said she was "extremely grateful" for the donations and added: “It was a challenge, the facilities were basic, in fact less than basic, and it really makes you value the things we have at home and take for granted like running water."

She described the views as "spectacular" and added that the group were now considering another fundraising adventure to Everest base camp next year.
