A WALL Heath teenager has organised an awards evening to celebrate the achievements of youngsters across the Black Country.

Jessica Hicklin, aged 14, has received financial support from volunteering charity vInspired to fund the project, which she hopes will make young people feel appreciated.

The teen, who attends Summerhill School in Kingswinford, is now urging people to nominate deserving people to receive a Jessica Hicklin Inspire Award.

Anyone under the age of 30, who has lived in the Black Country for at least five years can be nominated.

The categories are: youth volunteer, overcoming diversity, young carer, inspiration to peers, overcoming medical issues, artistic achievement, musical achievement, commitment to service, dealing with bereavement, friendship and sporting achievement.

Jessica said: "I have started the awards because I want young people, like myself to feel as though they have made a positive contribution to society as well as encouraging others to strive for success."

Nominations can be made online at www.jhinspireawards.weebly.com until May 31.

The awards evening will take place on June 14 at Wall Heath Community Centre.
