A BLACK Country rock band has taken the offer of gigs on foreign soil to boost their track record at home.

Devil Red from Netherton have been playing live around the Midlands for four years and built up a strong following by performing a mix of original material and classic covers.

After their music made its way onto the internet and offers of summer shows abroad rolled in, the band was inspired to complete their new EP.

Guitarist Ant Lunn said: “Whilst we love entertaining and performing rock covers it has been down to online media sites and us placing three of our recorded unreleased songs for fans to hear that has been a great success.

“So much that we have been offered a tour of Poland playing a number of festivals to thousands of people this summer, an experience we never dreamed would happen.

“This has driven us to write more songs and finalise our long-awaited six track EP titled First Bite One and Two.”

The unsigned four-piece, which also features singer Grant Silk, drummer Mike Piggott and bass player Jordan Staten, are also known for putting a rock twist on tracks from artists ranging from from Phil Colins, Adele, Kenny Loggins to Robert Tepper.

To celebrate the release of First Bite One and Two, Devil Red will be playing live at Moochers in Stourbridge on Friday May 30.

Ant added: “This is a huge event for us, we have bagged two great support acts, hard rockers Stone broken and indie rockers Hope For Return.

“Hard copies of our EP will be available to buy at the launch at Moochers along with T-shirts.”

The EP will be available to download from major online retailers the day after the Moochers gig.
