BOROUGH bookworms will have the chance to meet popular authors as part of Big Book Fortnight.

The annual celebrations will take place at venues across the Black Country from May 10 to 24.

Stourbridge Library will welcome author and illustrator Jo Hodgkinson on Saturday May 10 from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Jo, who graduated from the University of Wolverhampton, has written and illustrated numerous picture books for younger children and will bring her books to life at the free family event.

Four authors will be at an event organised by the West Midlands Readers' Network at Dudley's new archive building on Saturday May 17.

From 1pm to 4pm Lindsay Stanberry-Flynn, Amanda Smyth, Nathan Filer and Kate Long will discuss their work with visitors, who will also be able to see the facilities on offer at the new Tipton Road centre.

Tickets cost £5 and include afternoon tea and can be purchased from any borough library.

Andrea Pope-Smith, director of adult, community and housing services, said: “Together as Black Country authorities we have been celebrating Big Book Fortnight for 10 years.

"This is a great way to celebrate our local talent and give readers the chance to meet with the authors of books they love to read."
