A KINGSWINFORD company has received the royal seal of approval with a Queen's Award for Enterprise.

Mechatherm International has been given the UK's highest business accolade for the third time for "outstanding growth" in overseas earnings.

The High Street based business specialise in turnkey casthouse solutions for the worldwide aluminium industry.

It has been established since 1973 and is a long standing exporter, boasting contracts in every continent of the world, with large orders in Taiwan, Venezuela, Abu Dhabi and Europe.

The firm was given the prestigious award in the international trade category, for demonstrating outstanding growth in overseas earnings over the last three years.

The number of employees and the profitability of the company have both increased in line with export growth and there are now 64 members of staff.

Managing director, Chris Emes said: “Very few companies win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, it is a very select group and fewer companies still win three times. Approximately 160 Queen’s Awards have been announced this year for outstanding business achievement in fields of international trade, innovation and sustainable development and Mechatherm are thrilled to be one of them.

"This award comes in addition to Mechatherm winning the Black Country Business Award for International Trade and caps a wonderful year in the company’s history.

"Long may it continue.”

The company will be visited by a Royal representative and presented with a crystal bowl to mark their achievement.

They will also be invited to a celebratory reception at Buckingham Palace and can use the Queen’s Award Emblem in advertising, marketing and on packaging for five years, as a symbol of their quality and success.
