THE bravery shown by a Stourton teenager battling a rare form of cancer has inspired family and friends to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Imogen Westwood, of Bridgnorth Road, was recently diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a cancer that develops in the supporting tissues of the body.

The 13-year-old has just finished her fourth chemotherapy session to target the tumour in her upper chest.

Seeing the inspirational teen cope with the disease spurned her her father Andrew, brother Alistair and several other family members and friends to lose their locks and raise funds for the charity.

The sponsored head shave, that took place on April 13, has raised a staggering £5,216.

Touched by Imogen's story, Ian Macaulay, of Brierley Hill, organised a classic car show on April 27, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Members of The New Unnamed Classic Car Group were out in force at The Old Waggon and Horses pub, Stourbridge Road, Kidderminster, and generated £1,153.

Mr Westwood, said: "The Teenage Cancer Trust has received a lot of press recently and it has really raised the profile of the charity. We certainly saw the benefit at the car show. Talking to Ian, he said he would normally expect about 40 cars at the events but more than 80 turned up on the day.

"We can't thank people enough, the support we have received has been phenomenal and quite overwhelming."

He said the family will travel to America in June, where Imogen will receive proton therapy to shrink the tumour further and added: "After that, we hope the tumour will be at a size where a final chemotherapy session will eliminate the cancer. We remain optimistic but we have to take things step by step."
